Hi, I’m Emanuele

I’ve called Dublin, Ireland, home since 2015. Before that I ran IT teams in Shanghai, Milan, and Rome, close to 30 years in total across operations, infrastructure, corporate security, and systems engineering.

I’m currently Senior Director of IT at Fin (formerly Intercom), where I lead IT Operations, Engineering and Infrastructure for more than 1,400 employees. I run a zero trust, SaaS-first IT organisation. My focus is identity and access management, corporate security, AI, business process automation, and making technology easier for employees to use.

Leading IT hasn’t stopped me from wanting to understand how the hardware works. Outside work, I spend time with Linux, write tools, and maintain a growing set of open source projects. Much of that work brings hardware to Linux when the vendor only ships Windows software.

That means kernel drivers and desktop ports for the Thermal Grizzly WireView Pro II and Elgato XLR interfaces, regular contributions to InfoPanel, Stream Deck plugins, Unraid plugins, and tools for AI agents such as Claude Code, OpenClaw, and Codex. Around the homelab

The homelab is where most of these projects start, and where they get tested.

• CachyOS workstation. KDE Plasma desktop and daily driver. It also runs a Windows 11 VM with RTX 5090 passthrough and Looking Glass, mostly for hardware testing and reverse engineering vendor protocols, and occasionally for gaming.
• Ubuntu development machine. Runs local LLMs, orchestrates my fleet of AI agents, and hosts the development workloads that don’t belong on the desktop.
• Unraid NAS. Storage, containers, and the target for nightly backups. Most of my Unraid plugins come from running it day to day.
• Steam Machine. Where I port some of my projects to SteamOS.
• Mac mini. Where I build and test my projects on macOS.
