Experience

Nearly 30 years in IT, from a helpdesk in 1997 to running IT for a 1,400-person AI company. The last ten of them at Fin.

Fin (formerly Intercom)

Dublin · April 2016 to present

I joined Intercom as IT Lead when the company was a fraction of its current size and have led IT through every stage since: IT Manager in 2017, Engineering Manager for IT Infrastructure and then IT in 2019, Senior Manager in 2021, Director of IT in 2022, and Senior Director of IT since March 2026.

Today I lead IT Operations, Engineering and Infrastructure for more than 1,400 employees. The team runs a zero trust, SaaS-first environment. My focus is identity and access management, corporate security, business process automation, SOC 2 and SOX compliance, incident management, and giving employees tools that work without a ticket.

I own governance of AI use across the corporate side of Fin, the internal tools and business systems employees work in rather than the product. That includes protecting credentials, managing access controls, controlling costs and preventing shadow AI. AI now accounts for a large part of my role, leading the deployment of agents and tooling and expanding their use beyond IT into other business units and the processes they run.

First Data

Dublin · May 2015 to April 2016

Windows and Service Desk Lead. First Data moved payments data for large partners under full PCI compliance. I ran the service desk, distributing work across the Unix, Windows, and network production support teams, and rebuilt the Windows engineering team that looked after test, disaster recovery, and production environments.

Freelance consultant

Shanghai and Dublin · December 2014 to April 2015

Helped businesses work out what they needed from IT, set KPIs, pick tools, and sort out their online presence. For 250ok, I worked on email deliverability in Asian markets.

FINI NUAIR

Shanghai · June 2007 to November 2014

ICT Manager for APAC, reporting to the group CIO. The team maintained and expanded the network for a fast-growing company of more than 800 employees, and ran communications (PBX, VPN, video conferencing), all IT systems (AS400 ERP, mail, Active Directory), third-party suppliers, and physical security systems. We followed ITIL, with written procedures that passed ISO 9001 certification and scored a perfect result in US C-TPAT customs audits.

MW Internet Media

Milan · April 2004 to May 2007

IT Project Manager. Ran the company network and server infrastructure and maintained customers’ live web, database, mail, streaming, and advertising servers. Managed projects for the streaming business unit and moved the servers from custom-built hardware in an office to Dell enterprise machines in a MIX-connected server farm. Planned and ran large multi-site live streaming events for clients including ManpowerGroup and Ogilvy.

4newC

Milan · September 2002 to March 2004

Founder and IT Project Manager. 4newC brought video advertising to the Italian market and won partnerships with Publitalia and Ogilvy. I ran the server infrastructure, R&D for video advertising technology, and live streaming events. The company was acquired by MerlinWizard in 2004.

OMNIbit

Rome · January 1999 to June 2002

Helpdesk Director and Senior System Administrator at a managed hosting start-up. Built the customer helpdesk procedures, led and trained the helpdesk team, and maintained the company’s web, database, and mail servers.

NexTech

Rome · October 1997 to August 1998

Helpdesk and Junior System Administrator. My first IT job: incidents and scheduled work on customer sites, help with the company network, and building custom PCs.

Open source maintainer

Since 2025

I maintain Linux hardware ports and drivers, desktop tools, Unraid plugins, and AI agent tooling. It keeps me writing USB and HID code, kernel drivers, and desktop apps, not just reviewing other people’s. The projects page covers the repositories, languages, and hardware involved.
